About the vintage : After a mild winter, there was no indication that spring would be marked by an unexpected polar cold snap, which reached the vineyards at the end of April and caused a frost event unprecedented in its geographical scope. Fortunately, June saw the return of sunshine and warmth. The vines resumed their cycle. Flowering, fruit set and ripening proceeded without a hitch, thanks in part to a beautiful late season. For both white and red wines, the balance on the palate that gives the wines their elegance, finesse and structure is the unexpected signature of this vintage.
Terroir : Fairly cool clay-limestone terroir in the commune of Saint-Martin sous Montaigu. It produces fine, elegant wines. Vines planted in the late 1990s.
Cultivation method : The vines are grown organically. Mechanical soil cultivation. They are pruned using the single Guyot method with long canes and every other bud removed, resulting in beautiful, well-spaced bunches.
Vinification : Grapes harvested by hand in crates, sorted on a sorting table and 100% destemmed, the whole berries are conveyed directly into vats so as not to crush the raw material. Traditional Burgundy vinification in temperature-controlled open vats.
Aging : Aged for 15 months in Burgundy barrels. 30% new barrels.
