About the vintage : A vintage of all extremes! The spring frost hit by surprise, even on sheltered hillsides, and it was followed by a fresh and rainy vegetative season. In August, very hot weather allowed to catch up the delay of maturity and the harvest started at the end of September. The wines are 'typical' of a fresh vintage: low in alcohol, aromatic, crunchy and delicate on the palate. Their perfect balance will make wines of great guard.
Appellation & terroir : The Saint-Joseph appellation is mainly located on granite terraces, on steep hillsides with a south/southeast exposure. It extends over more than 60km long and the vines from which this cuvée comes are mainly located in the extreme north of the appellation around the villages of Chavanay and Malleval.
Grape harvest & vinification : The grapes are harvested by hand and partially destemmed once in the cellar. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks or in wooden truncated vats for 3 to 5 weeks. Traditional vinification with pigeages and pumping over. The wines are aged for 12 months on fine lees in concrete vats or in barrels of one to three wines.
