About the vintage : January begins with icy weather and winter sets in with regularly negative temperatures. The beginning of April is marked by a wave of intense cold and the following months are dry. The southern wind, which regularly manifests itself, accentuates the symptoms of drought in the vineyard. It was necessary to be reactive when the saving rains arrived in August and then to show patience to let the maturity come. The balances are very good with whites that offer a beautiful aromatic finesse and reds with silky tannins and notes of red and black fruits.
Appellation & terroir : The Cornas appellation produces only structured and powerful red wines, over a total area of 150 hectares. The Cornas of the Estate comes from a fully east-facing plot of 1.20 hectares located on the En Sauman site. The vineyard is planted on multiple small steep terraces of weathered granite.
Grape harvest & vinification : Manual harvesting in small crates. The grapes are vatted as a whole harvest. After a pre-fermentation cold maceration of about 48 hours, the fermentation starts naturally and lasts 3 to 4 weeks. The wines are pressed daily to carry out gentle extractions. The aging takes place in barrels of one, two, and three wines for 12 to 14 months.
