About the vintage : The 2020 vintage, produced under relatively complicated conditions and circumstances for everyone, was marked by historically early growth, from bud break to harvest. The result is absolutely exceptional and remarkably classic! Ripeness sometimes arrived at different times, as was the case with flowering: choosing the harvest date required cool heads and even patience! The particular conditions of this vintage have produced unprecedented and quite unique balances. The white wines are fruity and express a beautiful aromatic complexity, with very nice acidity. The red wines stand out for their incredible colors! They are concentrated, with character while retaining a beautiful freshness that offers delicious profiles focused on black fruits.
Terroir : Beautiful plot located on the outskirts of the old village of Mercurey. Clay soil at the bottom of the hillside, producing very full-bodied, dense and deep wines with abundant tannins. Vines planted in the mid-1970s.
Cultivation method : The vines are grown organically. Mechanical soil cultivation. They are pruned using the single Guyot method with long canes and every other bud removed, resulting in beautiful, well-spaced bunches.
Vinification : Grapes harvested by hand in crates, sorted on a sorting table and 100% destemmed, the whole berries are conveyed directly into vats so as not to crush the raw material. Traditional Burgundy vinification in temperature-controlled open vats.
Aging : Aged for 15 months in Burgundy barrels. 30% new barrels.
